"Esme and Brett" Found Love at Grey Rock Mansion

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

Esme and Brett's wedding showcased how a mansion wedding can successfully flow and flourish.

Mansion weddings can be daunting for caterers and DJ's. "Why?" You might ask. Most mansion venues have several rooms that make up the reception space. In the case of Grey Rock Mansion, there is a ballroom and an adjacent exterior tent. The arrangement for Esme and Brett's wedding was to have the ceremony in the tent, then transition guests after the ceremony in to the ballroom for Cocktail hour. During cocktail hour the catering staff setup the dining room with tables and chairs as guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Its important to understand each space of the venue and what the couple is looking to get out of it. Since they were doing speeches and toasts within the dinner reception area, I also provided sound reinforcement in the tented section even though I was set up in the ballroom. As expected everything transitioned like a Swiss watch and guests enjoyed the flow between both spaces.

Ceremony:

One of the lovely features of Grey Rock Mansion is the draped ceiling. It truly offers a blank slate, the addition of uplighting can completely change the atmosphere and make guests forget that they are even in a tent to begin with. The Chuppah that covered the alter where Esme and Brett were share their vows, also served as a backdrop for their sweetheart table, talk about functionality. They both recessed into marriage to the classic tune Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder.

Dancing:

Lauren Nievod Photography captured every moment perfectly. Both Esme and Brett danced all night long with their guests to their playlist that consisted of Motown, Top 40 and 80's classics. They chose 1,2,3,4 by Plain White T's for their cake cutting and they wrapped the night up with Last Dance by Donna Summers.

It was an amazing wedding to be a part of their guests were a lot of fun to entertain throughout the evening. With the right planning and attention to detail a mansion wedding can be the perfect setting for your perfect day!

What the couple had to say:

"Andy is the best! We hired him to be the DJ at our wedding and he went above and beyond his "DJ" duties. He told us that he would be "hands on" and act more like a day of coordinator to make sure everything would run smoothly at the wedding. The dance floor and dining area at our wedding venue is separate and I was worried about how everything would flow. I definitely did not need to worry about this, as Andy knew just what to do to make sure I wasn't stressed about the flow of the event or anything else. He checked in with me throughout the night to make sure I was okay with everything and he helped keep us on schedule. We made our wedding playlist and he played a variety of the music we selected to make sure everyone at the event was dancing! Not only did he do an amazing job at the actual event, he worked with me before the event with multiple phone calls/emails and made sure he had all the information he needed to make our wedding amazing. Andy was personable and professional the whole time. You will not be disappointed if you hire Andy! I highly recommended him for any event!"
